Baby Drinking From Plastic Water Bottle

Baby Drinking From Plastic Water Bottle

Here is a stunning study about “BPA FREE” marketed bottles as leaching chemical when they are being promoted as not.  The study was done by Health Canada Scientists and according to the Winnipeg Free Press:

The study says “traces” of the toxin were found in “BPA-free” bottles while internal correspondence between a department official and the lead scientist went further, characterizing the amounts in two brands as “high readings.”

So how can BPA FREE not be BPA Free?  The truth is that Plastic is still a by product of oil and you can’t get away from the inherent makeup of plastic.  As is the same with glass, there is some level of lead in every glass that is produced.  It is just the level that of toxic materials that is relevant.  An alternative is Stainless Steel products which is why your kitchen sink is most likely made of this material.

Stainless Steel Fact: TYPE 304 - The most commonly specified austenitic (chromium-nickel stainless class) stainless steel and accounts for more than half of the stainless steel produced in the world. 304 Stainless Steel withstands ordinary corrosion in architecture, is durable in typical food processing environments, and resists most chemicals.   It is has non leaching properties and is also food hygiene approved and is widely adopted by the food and drink industries for its sanitary, non toxic properties.

BPA Fact: Bisphenol A (BPA) is a chemical found in many of the consumer plastics products we buy and use.  There is a lot of controversey surrounding this chemical as to the theory that high levels of BPA in the body can influence hormone levels and increase the risk of health problems, including miscarriage.  If you want the full chemical make up you can research at Wikipedia.

We are not advocating throwing out all plastics in your home, but cautious and prudent use of such material is important to healthy living.  So the next time you are chewing on your pen, take it out of your mouth.

Here is a great article from CNN discussing the health and safety of bottle water.  This ties into my earlier blog entry on Bottled Water Labels Do Not Disclose Truth About Contents.

The small Australian town of Bundanoon has banned bottled water and sent a sign to the industry that they may be all watered out.  With a near-unanimous approval of the measure at a town meeting these 2500 residents who live 100 miles south of Sydney are taking on the bottle water industry with this ban as reported by the Huffington Post.

This might be the start to a revolt as stated by the Huffington Post.  Citing the following:

“Over the past few years, at least 60 cities in the United States and a handful of others in Canada and the United Kingdom have agreed to stop spending taxpayer dollars on bottled water, which is often consumed during city meetings, said Deborah Lapidus, organizer of Corporate Accountability International’s “Think Outside the Bottle” campaign in the U.S.”

It is finally time that we all begin to live a healthy and clean lifestyle.  The only way to begin to change our ways is to stop using bottled water.  To help in this effort using eco friendly stainless steel water bottles will achieve these goals.  Additionally we must also remember, just buying anything will not suffice.  You should purchase something that is durable and long lasting, not disposable like the plastic habit we have gotten into.

G Force Bottles achieve these needs.  For the cost of 15 Evian bottles, you can get a ECO Friendly, REUSABLE, REFILLABLE, RECYCLABLE G Force Stainless Steel Water Bottle. Where else can you get this type of deal?

GAO Report on Bottled Water

GAO Report on Bottled Water

It is finally official, according to the Government Accountability Office and the Environmental Working Group, a nonprofit research and advocacy organization, bottled water labels mis-represent the truth about the water in the bottles.  According to the latest GAO report, Bottled Water: FDA Safety and Consumer Protections Are Often Less Stringent Than Comparable EPA Protections for Tap Water,” released on July 8, 2009

“…consumers had misconceptions about bottled water, many replied that consumers often believe that bottled water is safer or healthier than tap water.”

Additionally the environmental impact of the study is hard hitting.  According to the report, the GAO stated the following:

“…we found that about three-quarters of the water bottles produced in the United States in 2006 were discarded and not recycled…”

Therefore not only can the water in the bottles be unsafe, but the environmental impact is devastating.  This study compared the contents of the water bottles and regular tap water, finding that some of the so called “great tasting pure water” is nothing more than unsanitary water.

Why not chose G Force Stainless Steel Water Bottles and fill them with clean water rather than spend more money on an alternative that is unhealthy and damaging to the environment.  Make the choice to switch.  Isn’t your health and the envrionment worth it?
